Snow Summit Offerings
As far as vacation destinations go, Snow Summit has it all. You don’t have to come just in the winter for the skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling. There’s non-stop fun no matter what season you visit. From basecamp activities where the whole family get to enjoy the Eurobungy trampoline, zip line, and QUICKjump, to the Scenic Sky Chair where hikers, sightseers, and mountain bikers ascend about a mile in the sky to get a breathtaking view of the whole Snow Summit area. And for those who prefer the indoor delights, retail shops, fine restaurants as well as special events to suit every appetite.
Snow Summit in the Winter
Our walk-to-the-slopes homes are perfect for a winter ski trip to Snow Summit. Snow Summit is one of Southern California’s premier ski resorts. The resort has more than 240 acres of skiable terrain with 27 trails of varying skill levels, making it a perfect resort for everyone from beginning skiers to professionals. The mountain has a state-of-the-art snowmaking system so there is snow all season, and the resort’s 11 lifts and 5 moving carpets will take you to all of the runs.
If you want to take a break from skiing or snowboarding, check out Snow Summit’s Grizzly Ridge Tube Park. The park has 3 lanes that are groomed each day for optimal tubing. You won’t have to worry about hiking back uphill; sit back in your tube a let a magic carpet carrying you to the top. Tickets are purchased for an hour and a half session, so you can ride down the hills as many times as you want during that time period. Children must be at least 42” tall to ride in a tube by themselves, otherwise they must ride in a double tube with a responsible party.
Snow Summit in the Summer
During the summer, Snow Summit is open for hiking and mountain biking. The Snow Summit Bike Park is popular among mountain bikers because it is Southern California’s only gravity-fed, lift-served bike park.
If you are new to the sport, the downhill park is a great way to learn all of the skills of mountain biking. The Adventure Academy and Skill Builder Park are beginner areas with a variety of obstacles set up to mimic what a trail out in the woods may look like. Practice riding down wood paths, small berms, and over pavers, rocks, and small jumps. Once you are ready to hit the trail, the Going Green Trail is a great beginner’s route. The trail will take you 4 miles downhill with minimal peddling and stunning views of Big Bear Lake.
For the more experienced mountain biker, try out the Party Wave. This fast trail is full of jumps, bumps, rollers, and berms, allowing you to practice your technical mountain biking skills. Overall, the park has more than 60 miles of cross-country trails, as well as a full-service pro shop, a rental shop, and private lessons, making it great for both beginner and professional mountain bikers.
