Great Features in Our Big Bear Ski Cabins
The word cabin doesn’t do justice to the amount of detail we have put in these vacation ski rentals. No amount of luxury is spared to give you an experience that will live with you for years to come. From cozy living rooms complete with toasty wood-burning fireplaces to fully equipped kitchens with cooking utensils and dishwashers. And of course, entertainment is front and center in the Big Bear ski in ski out cabins amenities. In many of our cabins, the high-speed internet will keep you connected to your friends and allow you to enjoy your evenings streaming movies. Some of the Big Bear ski cabins have their own decks where you can sit with a blanket over your legs and listen to the coyotes under the night sky full of bright stars.
Skiing and Snowboarding
One of the best features about the Big Bear Ski Resort is that almost all trails are open for skiing and snowboarding even after heavy snowfall. This landscape allowed the resort to establish the first freestyle park which made this skiing style popular in the area. Our Big Bear ski in ski out cabins put you right in the heart of the action where you get to enjoy the mountain with all its ski trails. There are different trails that suit all levels of skills from the beginner all the way to the expert. From Easy Street and The Gulch to Geronimo, no matter how experienced you are, Bear Mountain has a trail that will challenge you.
The Big Bear Ski Resort includes two parks, Bear Mountain and Snow Summit, and a pass to Big Bear Ski Resort gets you access to both parks’ lifts. There is also a free shuttle that will take you from one park to the other.
Snow Summit Park
Snow Summit Park is known for its variety of runs that are good for all ability levels, although it is most popular among beginner and intermediate skiers. Used by both skiers and snowboarders, the park has over 240 acres of skiable terrain stretched across 27 trails and 6 terrain parks.
More than half of the park consists of beginner and intermediate runs and the rest is advanced terrain. The park has 1,200 feet of vertical drop and a majority of its runs are wide, open trails with steady pitches. The snow conditions are always ideal as they constantly groom the runs and have the ability to make snow.
If you are a beginner, one of the most popular trails to try out your new skills is the Summit Run. This slow-moving trail has minimal pitches, zero obstacles, and runs from the peak of the mountain to the base, so you have plenty of time to perfect your pizza and French fries.
For the more experienced skiers and snowboarders, try the Timber Ridge and Log Chute runs. These runs are on the far side of the mountain so tend to be less busy than the runs on the face of the mountain. The runs also hold snow better and are flanked on either side by trees, making the trails feel secluded. These runs can be accessed using the East Mountain Express or Chair 7.
If you want to take a break from skiing or snowboarding, check out Snow Summit’s Grizzly Ridge Tube Park. Ride up the magic carpet and then zip back down the hill in a high-speed snow tube. The park has three runs to choose from and tickets can be purchased for sessions lasting 90 minutes.
Bear Mountain
Bear Mountain is more popular among snowboarders and advanced skiers because it has a steeper pitch than Snow Summit. The park has over 748 acres of skiable terrain stretched across 15 trails and it is home to Southern California’s only snow halfpipe.
While the park is regularly considered one of the best for professionals in Southern California, it also has the largest learners’ area run by professionally certified teachers who will help you learn all the skills you need to hit the slopes.
Ski Cabins with Something Extra
When it comes to amenities, our ski cabins have your comfort at heart. You’re always a short walk away from the zoo, shops and restaurants, and of course the ski resort. There’s also the lake and the golf courses to spend a day away from the mountain if you like. Some of the cabins welcome pets while others don’t allow them, so please check first.
