A relaxing rustic retreat with comfortable accommodations, breathtaking views, on-site resort activities, and an incredible lakefront Village location.
Owned and managed by Big Bear Vacations, this historic site offers 12 mountain-style cabins on two acres of pine-shaded lakefront, perfect for group reunions, special events, corporate retreats, and large family gatherings.
Originally recorded as the Gibralter Subdivision Tract 2575 Block “H” in the early 1900’s this property is rich in local Big Bear history.
Lot 1 was purchased by P.V. Potter and Edna M. Potter in August of 1946. Pierre and Edna first visited Big Bear in 1914 but returned in 1920 and established Camp Potter located near the Cowboy Restaurant not the current lakeshore property. They sold that camp in 1932 and according to historical records (Letters of the Early Pioneers of Big Bear Lake, BG Holmes, 1955 p.21 letter of Pierre and Edna Potter) “In 1941 we bought the old Johnson ‘Interlaken Camp’ and renamed it ‘Potter’s Shore Acres’. They sold that in 1946, (bought Lot 1 Block “H”) and retired to trailering the US and Mexico.
As of at least 1969 Lot 1 was split and a house was built on the small lot at Lakeview Drive and Fisher Road. This location was originally crafted as a summertime fishing and hunting camp for men which included floorless cabins which were perfect for the summer months when anglers would head to Big Bear. The remaining Lot 2 sold in 1941 to H.M. Seacrest and Sue W. Seacrest (H&W) with 1/2 interest and John D. Seacrest and Charlie Louise Seacrest (H&W) with 1/2 interest. Lot 3 was purchased by Frank G. Lane and Marie P. Lane in 1942.
As you can see by these vintage 1940’s postcards from the lodge guests couldn’t resist the charm and excitement of mountain life, eventually staying in the cabins year-round enjoying “perfect weather” and “warm sunshine”.
Each cabin is ideal for an adventure in the mountains offering the comforts from home, modern essentials, and an unbeatable location in the mountains. Reserved individually or combined together these adorable cottages and the incredible location becomes the perfect year-round destination for any season, sitting just steps away from the shoreline at Big Bear Lake and within a short walk to local marinas and the downtown Village area.
Relax on the lake-view deck, enjoy the group patio area, or grill up dinner on the Charcoal BBQ.
