The holiday season continues, and before we even get to take a breath from Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s, and Valentine’s Day, March blows in like a lion of parties and a new round begins! From the flamboyant Mardi Gras to the down and dirty St. Patrick’s Day to the calm and yet impactful Earth Hour, the March Big Bear events keep coming,and when you start planning your March getaway to Big Bear, you’re guaranteed a trip that’s filled with fun, adventure, and probably more than a fair amount of alcohol!
Mardi Gras, March 5th
Mardi Gras may not have the same panache outside of the great city of New Orleans, but that doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate it in style during your stay in Big Bear! Any dollar store will sell you beads for a dollar, and most of the bars and pubs in the area are destined to offer Mardi Gras specials, so what more would you need? Start out your evening by grilling some of that fish you caught in your earlier expedition, blackened of course, and then, once your stomach is full, head out on the town for a night of fun and adventure! The AV Bar & Nightclub, 664 Pine Knot Avenue, always has something going on and we’re sure Mardi Gras will be no exception!
St. Patrick’s Day in Big Bear, March 17th
This year St. Patrick’s Day in Big Bear falls on a Sunday, but you don’t care at all; you’re on vacation and there’s no need to wake up early on Monday! And because Wyatt’s Grill and Saloon, 42900 Big Bear Boulevard, is holding a St. Patrick’s Day pre-party on March 16th, this is one holiday you can really drag out! The luck of the Irish will be with you as you try your hand at Cabbage Bowling, listen to the best Irish bands in the county, and, of course, drink a little whisky (maybe a lot of whisky!) at Wyatt’s on Saturday night and then round out the weekend nicely with more whisky at Whisky Dave’s on Sunday! The party doesn’t end in Big Bear, and your friends will all be green with envy that they can’t celebrate with you!
Earth Hour, March 30th
This small but impactful event is more about saving the environment than partying like it’s 1999, but it gives you the opportunity to enjoy the wonderful amenities found in your Big Bear Vacations cozy escape! On March 30thfrom8:30pmto 9:30 pm, countries from all over the world turn off their lights and do their part in saving electricity and reducing light pollution. Just flip the switch and revel in the darkness for an hour (or longer if the mood strikes). Because many of our properties come with fireplaces, this hour can be a romantic one! The cold stays outside and you stay warm, cozy, and happy as you snuggle in front of the fire for a good cause!
