The highly anticipated Maifest celebration will be back in Big Bear just before Memorial Day in 2025, much to the delight of locals and visitors alike. The event is scheduled to run May 17 and well as May 24 through May 25, 2025, and is often considered one of Big Bear’s most beloved springtime gatherings with good reason. Maifest is crafted to be a complementary event to the well-known Oktoberfest, and comes with just as much German culture-inspired details as one might imagine. During Maifest, attendees are invited to dress in their lederhosen best and head over to the Big Bear Lake Convention Center at 42900 Big Bear Boulevard to celebrate together. The event will kick off on May 17 with a special tribute to America’s military heroes and as festivities continue throughout the weekend, you can count on access to delicious German food and beverages, music, dancing, and so much more. The free Big Bear Trolley will be offering rides for the duration of the event so you can feel free to leave your vehicle behind and exclusively focus on the fun this Memorial Day at Maifest in Big Bear.

If you’re making your way to Big Bear in 2025 over Memorial Day and you have a passion for running firmly in place, you’ll find you’re right on time to take part in the Memorial Day 5K Run in town. This event is anticipated to be well-attended and honors fallen military heroes while giving athletes an opportunity to put their talents to the test. The race route will take runners through scenic neighborhoods, and when everyone crosses the finish line in Big Bear Village, there’s a celebration party hosted as well. From the beautiful lakeside vistas to the rewarding challenge of it all, this is a race you won’t want to miss.

Take Time to Explore Veteran’s Park

A great way to pay tribute to those military members who have served and sacrificed this Memorial Day in Big Bear is to make time on your getaway itinerary to visit Veteran’s Park. Located at 40870 Big Bear Boulevard, Veteran’s Park is designed to be a memorial to veterans and offers visitors gorgeous lakeside views to enjoy. The park was established by the Big Bear Lake Rotary Club in tandem with the City of Big Bear Lake, First Mountain Bank, and the Veterans Alliance too. When you drop by this Memorial Day, be sure to take a moment to settle in on the benches and enjoy some quiet reflection, admire the park memorial, and check out the bandstand as well. If you visit the park around 11:00 am on Memorial Day, you’ll likely be on time to attend the annual Memorial Day ceremony hosted here as well. This is organized by The American Legion Post 584 and the Marine Corp League each year and is free to attend. Afterward, you’re invited to head over to the American Legion and enjoy a delicious celebration that includes brats, fries, hot dogs, hamburgers, and more.
