Located just across the street from the famous Bear Mountain Ski Resort, the Big Bear Alpine Zoo at Moonridge has been saving and rehabilitating animals in Big Bear since the year 1959, when an enormous forest fire nearly devastated the San Bernardino National Forest and its animal residents.
Home to a variety of alpine animal species that have been injured and either are in the process of returning to the wild or cannot return to the wild, the Big Bear Alpine Zoo is a fantastic place for visitors of all ages to see the animals that call Big Bear home, as well as learn more about their biology, habitat, and their individual stories.
The Big Bear Alpine Zoo at Moonridge is open all year long, with a daily summer schedule of 10:00am until 5:00pm that lasts from Memorial Day Weekend until Labor Day Weekend and a daily winter schedule of 10:00am until 4:00pm from after Labor Day Weekend until Memorial Day Weekend.
General admission prices range from $9.00 for seniors, military personnel, and children between the ages of three and ten years to $12.00 for visitors ages eleven years and older. Children ages two and under are free. Parties of ten or more people can buy tickets at a discounted group rate if they arrange and pay for their tickets at least forty-eight hours in advance.
